Utility Mechanic/Electrician

Department: Building Management
Location: Cockeysville, MD

Maryland Masonic Homes a Continuing Care Retirement Community located in Cockeysville, Maryland has an immediate opening for a Full-time Utility Mechanic/Electrician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with local and national codes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure the safety and efficiency of all electrical systems.
  • Respond to service requests from residents and staff in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Maintain lighting systems both interior and exterior.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance personnel on facility-wide projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and other safety regulations.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Assist in the planning and installation of energy-efficient upgrades.
  • Must be available for the on call and weekend rotation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Valid state electrician license (Journeyman or Master Electrician depending on state requirements).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a residential or commercial electrician.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical codes.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially when working around seniors.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments (indoors, outdoors, tight spaces).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a healthcare or retirement facility.
  • Familiarity with emergency power systems and fire alarm systems.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week & week-end rotation) with benefits to include: medical, dental & vision insurance, short & long term disability, $25,000 life insurance, 401(k) Plan with matching contributions, PTO and Sick Hours (based on the Maryland Sick & Safe Law), paid holidays

Compensation is based on experience.
